What if you could have a potent anxiety remedy, completely free of any side-effects that many (if not all) of today’s new-medicine drugs induce? Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, not quite! The answer to that lies in the thousands of years old plant, cannabis. More precisely, in its compound called Cannabidiol or CBD.
With the legalization of marijuana in many states, many of its healing properties have become known. One major one being anxiety. In today’s bustling world, stress is part of our everyday life. Unfortunately that stress leads to anxiety and depression as the most common new-age ailments.
CBD Treatment For Anxiety
Today many producers are launching their CBD-based products, supplements, oils and so on. They’re marketing them as remedies for issues like anxiety, depression, and pain among others.
The reason why people prefer CBD is that it doesn’t produce the “high” when consumed, unlike marijuana’s other very popular compound tetrahydrocannabinol or THC. Specifically, this is why CBD is legal in many states when it comes to medicinal marijuana, and THC isn’t yet. With its non-psychoactive properties, CBD is a suitable treatment for people of all ages suffering from anxiety and depression. CBD is also known to treat chronic pain, insomnia, overall stress, and many other problems.
The Uses of CBD
Stats of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America show that one of the most common health problems in today’s world is anxiety. The data shows that it affects more than 18% of the population in the U.S. alone each year.
Up until now, anxiety has generally been treated with nothing but therapy or traditional drugs. Many of those drugs having major addictive side-effects. Because of a lack of better treatment people had to undergo one or the other or both. Today though many are opting for CBD oil and CBD products and they’re showing excellent results immediately.
Scientists state they do not have enough research on CBD and marijuana in general yet. However, they hypothesize that the reason why it helps with anxiety is that it impacts the endocannabinoid system in our brain and body. The receptors which are involved in the control of serotonin are affected by CBD which boosts the production of more serotonin. Thus equaling a happier, brighter mood. CBD has been said to cause the disappearance of depression and anxiety.
CBD for Anxiety Research
As with all cannabis research, the best we have got so far are multiple studies on people. There are also tons of videos describing the benefits of using CBD. That along with animal trials and studies, both which produce favorable results every time. In a report published in the journal Neurotherapeutics in 2015, doctors studied CBD and showed that it affects social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder very positively.
One people’s study was done on 24 people suffering from social anxiety disorder. Each one received either 600 milligrams (mg) of CBD or a placebo just one hour before going on a stage and doing a public speaking test. There was also a control group of 12 people that did not receive anything. The results were in favor of CBD, as expected. Namely, the group that was treated with CBD significantly reduced anxiety, cognitive impairment, and discomfort while participants were delivering their speech.
The Safety of CBD
So you may be thinking apart from all these favorable studies, isn’t CBD a drug? Well, it is classified as a drug simply because of the plant it comes from. But when CBD is extracted from it and when there is no THC present, CBD does not have any unwanted side-effects apart from:
- Changes in appetite
- Changes in mood
- Dry mouth
- Low blood pressure
However, these effects are manageable and usually most people using the compound never experience any of it. Or the few that do say they get used to them and after the first few experiences.
On the other hand, you should note that CBD does interact with certain medications negatively and these include:
- calcium channel blockers
- some types of anti-epileptic drugs
So make sure you contact your doctor before starting your CBD for anxiety treatment to find out whether you should change drugs or not.
Get Legit CBD Products
With the cannabis market being fairly new, many CBD-based products aren’t marked properly. This is because the market is still not properly regulated. A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 2017 discovered 70% of the products they tested had either more or less of the amount of CBD that was stated on the label. These companies have absolutely no care for their customers at all! What a bunch of jerks right?
Be sure you know the purity of the product. Make sure you’re asking questions about the CBD you’re buying. We believe this is super important because if you are suffering from any heart conditions, your CBD-based product should not contain THC or should be a very small amount. This is because THC is usually associated with high blood pressure and arrhythmia, as well as anxiety-induced symptoms. Not only that, do you really want to ingest something you’re not sure about? I know I wouldn’t! Make sure the CBD products you buy have verifiable lab test results. Here at Organic CBD Outlet we provide lab results for all of our products. We also provide a CBD dosage guide to help determine the correct dose of CBD for you.
If you feel frequent restlessness, fatigue, lack of control over feelings of worry, irritability, muscle tension, and sleep problems, immediately talk to a professional. If left untreated they can really damage your health in the long run. If addressed on time though they are easily stopped and reversible.
Today there are many anxiety treatment plans that can be worked out with a mental-health professional. They can help you find the right one. If you’re thinking of starting a CBD anxiety treatment on your own you should talk to your doctor. They’ll need to know about further treatments and other drug combinations.
